CEO November Message

The 2023 Geelong Business Excellence Awards were nothing short of spectacular, and they deserve to be celebrated. On Thursday 19 October, over 670 guests from the Geelong Business Community came together at GMHBA Stadium for an evening that celebrated innovation, sustainability, and the remarkable businesses that make Geelong shine.

This year, the awards went above and beyond emphasising sustainability. For the second consecutive year, the entire event is certified carbon-neutral, demonstrating a profound commitment to environmental responsibility. This sets a significant example for the region and reinforces the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices in the business world.

The list of winners is impressive and diverse, representing various sectors and sizes of businesses. From Directbor winning Business of the Year to Justine Martin winning Business Leader of the year, each winner across 20 categories showcased excellence in their respective fields. The range of awards underscores the depth and diversity of Geelong’s business community.

These awards aren’t just about recognising achievements; they are about celebrating the strength and resilience of the Geelong business community. They inspire businesses to strive for excellence, innovation, and sustainability, ultimately contributing to the growth and prosperity of the region.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and finalists, as well as our gratitude to major sponsor LBW Business + Wealth Advisors.

Finally, Geelong Chamber welcomed Shadow Cabinet to Geelong on Monday 23 October. It was a great opportunity to host John Pesutto and 25 of his team including Shadow Ministers along with over 30 business leaders who voiced their opinions of the region and their industry sectors. It’s important we continue to host politicians and policy makers of all sides and provide access for our business community’s voices to be heard. We’ll continue to curate more of these opportunities in future.

Next month the Chamber is in Queenscliff to connect with our Bellarine members and we look forward to supporting Cottage By The Sea for our next After 5 networking event.
